CaoCao Makes WAIC Debut, Joins Turing Award Laureate Joseph Sifakis to Explore the Path to Scaling Trustworthy Robotaxis
Time: 2026/07/17

On July 17, CaoCao Inc. ("CaoCao" or the "Company") made its debut at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC). Zhao Chenhui, CTO of the Company's RoboX Business Unit, was invited to deliver a keynote address at the International Forum on AI Standardization. Professor Joseph Sifakis, Turing Award laureate and Chief Scientific Advisor of the CaoCao AI Innovation Center, joined the event via video link and shared his latest insights into trustworthy Robotaxis.

Professor Sifakis, an internationally recognized authority on trustworthy autonomous systems, noted that the development of Robotaxis depends not only on the capabilities of AI models, but also on whether the overall system can maintain safe, reliable and stable operation in open, complex and uncertain environments.

Professor Sifakis further outlined three fundamental principles for achieving trustworthy Robotaxis: Safe by Design, System Coordination and Runtime Assurance. Achieving trustworthy Robotaxi systems requires safety to be built in from the outset. It also depends on coordination among vehicles, cloud platforms, dispatch systems and communications networks, together with real-time monitoring and safety assurance throughout operations. He noted that CaoCao's RoboX system, built around intelligent purpose-built vehicles, intelligent driving technologies and intelligent operations, closely aligns with the systems engineering approach underpinning trustworthy autonomous systems.

Drawing on the theory of trustworthy autonomous systems, CaoCao has proposed a trustworthy Robotaxi capability framework comprising three core capabilities—Trustworthy Vehicles, Trustworthy Runtime Assurance and Trustworthy Operations Systems—to provide a system-level solution for commercial operations at scale.

Zhao further shared CaoCao's practices in trustworthy autonomous systems. In the area of Trustworthy Vehicles, CaoCao has launched China's first purpose-built Robotaxi, developed from the ground up specifically for autonomous driving operations. The vehicle features a vehicle-level architecture with multiple redundancies and is designed to meet the requirements of international functional safety standards, providing a robust safety foundation. In Trustworthy Runtime Assurance, the Company continues to enhance its RAS remote safety system and is exploring integrated space-ground communications redundancy to improve the stability of vehicle operations in complex environments. In Trustworthy Operations Systems, CaoCao has developed the Green Intelligent Mobility Hub, enabling intelligent coordination across the full operational workflow—from energy replenishment and vehicle preparation to inspection and dispatching—and providing infrastructure support for Robotaxi operations at scale. Together, the three-part capability framework establishes clearer lines of responsibility and creates end-to-end accountability across vehicle systems, autonomous driving and operations, further improving the efficiency of system iteration and operational responsiveness.

CaoCao believes that as Robotaxi services scale up, capabilities in vehicle systems, autonomous driving, operations and safety assurance must remain consistent and stable across different cities and traffic environments. Trustworthiness will be a critical foundation as Robotaxis move toward commercial operations at scale.

Under the guidance of the China Electronics Standardization Institute and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, CaoCao, together with the UNIDO AIM Global Centre of Excellence, Microsoft (China), TÜV SÜD and other organizations and companies, launched the Global Standardization Partnership Program for Trustworthy AI Ecosystem to explore the development of a trustworthy AI ecosystem and related standardization practices.

Looking ahead, CaoCao will continue working with Professor Sifakis to deepen the integration of trustworthy autonomous systems theory with real-world mobility scenarios. The Company will promote the coordinated evolution of intelligent purpose-built vehicles, intelligent driving technologies and intelligent operations, while continuously strengthening its Robotaxi capability framework. Through these efforts, CaoCao aims to move Robotaxis from trustworthy operation to replicable deployment and ultimately to coordinated global scale-up, charting a safer and more reliable path to commercial operations.
